SAN DIEGO Guide to Mexican Independence Day Celebrations and Feria Tijuana

Cinco de Mayo is nothing compared to the party Mexico puts on for its actual Independence Day on Sept. 16.
And as the country marks 200 years of freedom from Spain, the festivities -- which begin this weekend and continue through the end of the month - should be more spectacular than ever.
Here are a few ways to join the party:
SATURDAY

The celebration includes traditional children's games like "cascarones," as well as corn husk doll making and relay races.
